Sue Harris Brexit March ()Although it is unpleasant when there are arguments amongst friends and family about important issues, debate can be healthy and it can open your eyes to other people's points of view that you had previously not appreciated.

Brexit is dominating everything and means that a lot of important issues are getting side lined and forgotten in its wake, which is impacting on national, but also local issues and services.

Austerity is hitting our communities hard and worse is to come in terms as there will be more reductions in funding for our schools, hospitals /health services and transport system.

We need a new approach to politics and to stop the creeping centralisation that has taken place since Margaret Thatcher abolished the Metropolitan Counties in the 1980s.

Leeds as a city has a lot to offer, and now more than ever we need to work together as communities within the city to control what matters to us and makes this such a great place to live.

The theme of the Liberal Democrats' manifesto for Leeds is "Communities in Control" and we have set out policies under six main headings - Environment, Transport, Housing, Adult Social Care, Children and Families and the Local Economy.
